typing tests in other languages

Our typing tests in other languages give you the same timed test, the same live WPM and accuracy feedback, and the same instant results, in five languages: English Typing Test, Spanish Typing Test, Chinese Typing Test, Hindi Typing Test, Arabic Typing Test. If you write in more than one language, your typing speed is not one number; it is five, and the only way to know each one is to test it in that language.

Why test typing in your own language

Most typing tests assume English, but a keyboard is not the same in every language. Chinese and Hindi use input methods that add a composition step between keystroke and character. Arabic reverses direction and changes letter shapes mid-word. Spanish adds accented vowels. Testing in the language you actually write in is the only way to measure the speed that matters to you.

How to compare across languages

Run the same one minute test in each language on the same day, and write the five numbers down. Most people are fastest in their dominant language and ten to twenty percent slower in the others, and the gap shrinks fast with a few minutes of daily practice in the weaker languages. Re-run the same set next month and the comparison is honest, because the test itself never changed.

Multilingual typing test FAQ

Which languages can I take a typing test in?

English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi and Arabic. Each has its own timed page with practice text written natively in that language.

How does WPM work in Chinese, Hindi or Arabic?

WPM is still correct characters divided by five, divided by minutes. For Chinese and Hindi the count reflects composed characters through an input method, which is the speed that matters when you actually write.

Do the non-English tests render correctly?

Yes. Arabic renders right-to-left with correct letter shaping, and each page declares its own language and hreflang alternates so search engines route the right version.

Are these multilingual typing tests free?

Yes, completely free with no sign up, no account and no ads. Results are stored only in your own browser.

How long should a language typing test be?

One minute to compare languages quickly, three minutes when you want a stable average. Shorter tests expose mistakes; longer ones smooth out bursts of speed.

Can I switch languages without leaving the page?

Use the custom typing test, which lets you change language along with duration, text type, theme and line width in one place.
